Monique Powell-Jones

Monique Powell-Jones began working in the kitchen as a young child, assisting her grandmother, Big Mom, in preparing daily dishes for her adult residential facility. Standing on a chair at the counter and stove next to Big Mom, Monique picked up many lessons in creating delicious and savory meals that only a Southern Grandmother from Desoto, GA can teach. Monique’s savory side dishes and dessert creations are always a much requested item at many holiday tables. In 2005, Monique opened “Sweet Treats by MoJo” a small event catering company in Sacramento, CA providing gourmet meals for housewarming parties, baby showers, birthday parties and dinner parties.  In 2006, Big Mom was called home to be with the Lord and in an effort to honor her memory and her teachings; Monique changed the name of the company to Big Mom’s Kitchen.
